Introduction

Facts About The Church of Christ

·         Singing
(I Cor. 14:15), (Col. 3:16) and (Eph. 5:19) all give instruction to Christians regarding singing.  We sing praise to our God in every service, without mechanical instruments.  Everyone is encouraged to join in during the song service.

·         Prayer
(I Cor. 14:15) deals with the practice of prayer.  Prayer is our only means of communicating our thankfulness to God for His wonderful blessings, and talk to with Him about our needs, wishes, fears and troubles.  We practice this during each service, but we should also practice prayer each day of our lives.  Prayers in the worship services are led by one man with the rest of the congregation following silently along.  We pray for the sick and others who may need our prayers, ask for the forgiveness of sins, and request God’s help in our daily lives.

·         Teaching
Teaching was obviously a very important part of worship in the New Testament Church.  In (Acts 2:42), we find that the early Church continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine.  We believe that all scripture is inspired from God, (II Tim. 3:16-17) and teaches and informs us of everything we need to know to live Christian lives (II Pet. 1:3).  A plurality of capable men (Acts 13:1) one by one, (I Cor. 14:31) exhort the congregation each time we meet, teaching only from the Bible.  No doctrines of men are allowed to be taught.  We believe that we must seek God’s will and His will alone as presented in the Bible

·         Communion
In Mat. 26:26-28 our Lord instituted His supper, (I Cor. 11:20-34) also deals with the communion service.  But, (Acts 20:7) gives us  the pattern we should follow as to how often we are to partake of the communion, the early Church met on the “first day of the week to brake bread”.  This is a very important part of our service, and it should be very important to in our lives.

·         Giving
Many believe that tithing is still commanded today.  But, in (2 Cor. 9:7), the Bible teaches us about our giving.  It instructs us to give as we purpose in our hearts, certainly it is a commandment to give of our means.  However, we do not solicit from visitors, or anyone else.  The Christian should cheerfully return a portion of the blessings that God has given each one of us.

·         The Gospel Plan of Salvation:
